Public Hearing on Climate Resiliency
July 11, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Message via Chris Mancini from Save the Harbor:
“The Metropolitan Beaches Commission (MBC) is charged with making findings and recommendations to the Legislature and the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) on ways to improve the metropolitan region’s public beaches.
Save the Harbor is hosting a climate resiliency public hearing on behalf of the MBC on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 10:00am to 11:30am. The hearing will take place on Zoom.
The goal of this hearing is to bring together elected officials, experts in climate resiliency, and community members to discuss current efforts along the Boston Metropolitan Region’s coast. The hearing will feature a panel of experts followed by a portion for community member questions and comments. The following experts will be speaking on the panel:
- The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management
- The Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Climate Resilience
- The City of Boston Environment Department and the Climate Change and Environmental Planning team at the Boston Development Planning Agency
- The Town of Hull, Department of Climate Adaption and Conservation
In the public comment portion of the hearing, we plan to listen to community member’s knowledge on local areas. We are curious about what you are looking for in climate resiliency measures in the Boston Metropolitan Region. We also hope to educate community members about the threat of rising sea levels to the public beaches.
Please reach out to me at mancini@savetheharbor.org or our Environmental Policy Assistant Aliya Zwyer, at zwyer@savetheharbor.org, with any questions.”
